It is Heathrow’s commitment to support the local economy whilst managing their impacts on communities and the environment. They asked us, a small local company based in Cambridge, to help add to their renewable energy portfolio by designing and installing the UK’s first solar car wash at Terminal 2 and 3 Business Car Park.

The solution

Heathrow Airport wanted a roofing structure that sheltered cars from direct weather effects and powered a significant percentage of the car washing facilities through renewable energy. We planned, designed and installed a solarised roof structure on top of their car wash and successfully completed this project within the strict rules and regulations of the functioning airport site.

Many thanks for the successful installation of the solar panelled car wash canopy at Heathrow. As our first project together and with the added complications of being at a major airport it had the potential for serious mishaps but was successfully delivered on time and without any issues. This was mainly due to the planning and diligence of your delivery team.
